Dad's Closet
2023
Acrylic on Canvas
90.9 x 72.7 cm
The adult in the picture is wearing his dad's clothes. It used to be baggy, but now it fits perfect. An adult looks into the mirror and recalls his childhood.
In the live painting performance, the painting was covered with transparent plastic, and the adult reflected in the mirror was repainted as children. After the painting was finished, the plastic was peeled off and burned.
The painting does not change at all before and after the live painting performance. An adult can look in the mirror and reminisce about his childhood, but he cannot go back to become a child.
Peter Pans' Phantasm
Narratives presented in the exhibition [Peter Pans’ Phantasm] features protagonists chasing after their own fantasy. Each narrative illustrates the fate of characters who refuse to return to the real world and instead stay in their fantastic world.
[Peter Pans’ Phantasm] makes a finale of the [Jakdang Festival - [NEVERLAND]] event. While in the event, the audience return to their childhood and have fun in the fantastic Neverland. But on the other side of that fantasy world are adults living in the real world. [Peter Pans’ Phantasm] reminds the audience that a real world to return to is always waiting for them.
